Right in time for the Capitol Hill Ocean week and to celebrate the 20 year EU-US Science and Technology Agreement the OPL will leave Europe for the first time and is coming to the US to Washington, D.C..
In close cooperation with the National Oceanic and Atmospheric Administration (NOAA), the Consortium for Ocean Leadership, the National Parks Service, the Smithsonian Institution and the National Marine Sanctuary Foundation, the German Embassy and the EU Commission the Ocean Plastics Lab will be open from 4-17 June on the Washington National Mall: Between the National Museum of Natural History and Smithsonian Castle, at the level of 10th Street NW near Jefferson Drive SW. Nearest Metro: Smithsonian Station-National Mall.
During the exhibition, side-events will take place on the exhibit site or at other venues. You can find details below in the event section. Organized by us or our local partners these events will give an overview of the problem of plastic in the ocean as well as other threats the marine environment is facing and how science contributes to understand and combat these problems.
The Ocean Plastics Lab is open for the public and free of charge.
The exhibition provides a barrier-free access.
